Lemoine, Cortilet, Krentz, Blight, Wiens, Bram, Brunet, Grenier, DeKezel commit to NCAA and CIS

LEMOINE COMMITS TO SAIT TROJANS
  The Yellowhead Chiefs of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Kaelyn Lemoine has committed to play for the SAIT College Trojans commencing the 2011-12 season. Lemoine who attended High School in St. Lazare played forward for the Chiefs the past 3 seasons accumulating 89 points (38 goals-41 assists) in 96 games while being one of the teams best plus/minus players. During her final season with the Chiefs Lemoine had 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points, good for 3rd highest on the team.
  SAIT is one of the top programs in the ACAC (Alberta College Athletic Conference) winning the conference championship in 2010-11. SAIT Polytechnic is located in Calgary and Lemoine has a career goal of becoming a Medical Transcriptionist.
  A tenacious 2-way player who has been a solid contributor to the Chiefs success over the past 3 seasons Lemoine has all the tools to play at the college level.

  The MFMHL congratulates Kaelyn on all her accomplishments at the Midget Level and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours at the next level.

Cortilet Committs to St. Mary's University Huskies

   The Eastman Selects of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Holly Cortilet has committed to play for the St. Mary's University Huskies commencing the 2011-12 season. Cortilet hails from Landmark and is a strong puck moving defense who plays bigger than her size. Known for her strong defensive battles Cortilet also has very good puck skills and a strong shot. Last season with the Selects Cortilet was a solid +10 in 54 games while contributing 32 points. Cortilet has won Bronze Medals at the Hockey Manitoba Provincials and with Team Eastman at the 2010 Manitoba Winter Games along with helping the Selects to the MFMHL Finals this past season.

    Cortilet graduated from Landmark Collegiate and plans to study psychology at St. Mary's which is located in Halifax Nova Scotia.

    The MFMHL congratulates Holly on her tremendous accomplishments during her midget career and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors both in hockey and at school.


RIKI KRENTZ COMMITS TO MOUNT ALLISON UNIVERSITY

 

  

   The Eastman Selects of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Riki Krentz has committed to play for the Mount Allison University Mounties next season. Mount Allison is a CIS Program who compete in the Atlantic University Sport Conference. Mount Allison University is located in the Tantramar marshes in the picture-perfect town of Sackville in the province of New Brunswick and is rated as one of the Top Undergraduate Universities in Canada having been named top university 17 of the last 20 years by McLean's Magazine. 

   In Krentz, an Alternate Captain for the Selects, the Mounties are getting a player who is known for her team first attitude and leadership. Krentz is a very good skater who is solid defensively as her plus 10 this past season indicates but can also contribute offensively as over her 3 year career with the Selects has picked up 107 points (48 Goals and 59 assists) in 137 games played. Although Krentz did not start playing hockey until age 12 she has earned 2 Provincial Bronze Medals with the Selects plus won 3 Provincial Championships prior to playing with the Selects along with a N.A.H.C. Gold Medal with Team Manitoba.

   Krentz is also an outstanding student who carries a 92% University Entrance average in high school and is looking at getting her Bachelor of Science Degree at Mount Allison. The MFMHL congratulates Riki on her outstanding Midget Hockey and Academic accomplishments and wishes her all the best in her future CIS career at Mount Allison University.

 LINDSAY BLIGHT COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA 

 

  

  The Central Plains Capitals of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Lindsay Blight their team captain has committed to play for the University of Manitoba Bisons next season. Blight will be joining one of the top teams in CIS Hockey and the defending CIS Canada West Conference Champions. 

   Blight is a three year veteran of the Capitals' Program and is known as one of the top defense in the MFMHL. Blight played 115 games over three seasons with the Capitals scoring 47 points while earning numerous awards in her 3 seasons including Team MVP and Leadership and Sportsmanship in her final year.

    Blight was part of Team Central that won Gold at the 2010 Manitoba Winter Games and was selected to be the Team Captain for the event. She also received the award as Sports Person of the Year in her home town of Portage la Prairie for 2010. 

    Blight is a tremendous competitor with a great work ethic and Bison Head Coach Jon Rempel makes this comment about Blight joining his Program “Lindsay's work ethic is unparalleled and that combined with her desire to improve are going to make her an excellent addition to the Bison program. Lindsay is strong defensively, physical and plays the game with intensity, competitiveness and will be an asset to a Bison defense corps that relies on those attributes. She comes from a solid program in Central Plains having spent the last number of years with the Capitals.”

   The MFMHL wants to congratulate Lindsay on her outstanding Midget career and wish all the best in her future CIS career.


 

KAYLEIGH WIENS COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

   

 

  The Pembina Valley Hawks of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Kayleigh Wiens has committed to play for the University of Manitoba Bisons next season. The Bisons are the defending CIS Canada West Champions and one of the top CIS Programs in Canada. Wiens, 18, is a 5’5” forward that finished this season with the Hawks after they captured the 2010-11 Provincial Female "AA" Midget Championship, their second in a row. Wiens who is from Winkler, MB and the Assistant Captain with the Hawks was instrumental in the Hawks winning 3 consecutive MFMHL Championships. Over her 3 year career with the Hawks Wiens has averaged 1.12 points/game scoring 65 goals and picking up 71 assists for 136 points in 125 games played. Known for her speed and strong 2-way play Wiens has been a standout in the MFMHL.

    Wiens has also been named to the Hockey Manitoba Program of Excellence U18 Team Manitoba for the past 2 seasons and this year at the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax was third in tournament scoring during the national event with 16 points (8g, 8a). Jon Rempel (Bison Head Coach) describes, “Kayleigh is an extremely hard worker and an excellent athlete. Her physical and gritty style of play will be a great fit with the way our team plays and we look forward to having her in our program. She also brings a winning mentality after two straight provincial midget ‘AA’ championships with Pembina Valley and that combined with her Team Manitoba experience should help her make an immediate impact at the university level.”

SHELBY BRAM COMMITS TO MERCYHURST COLLEGE

 

 

 

    The Eastman Selects of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Shebly Bram has committed to play for the Mercyhurst College Lakers, one of the top teams in the NCAA located in Erie Pennsylvania, next season. Shelby will be following in her sister's footsteps as Bailey Bram is already one of the Lakers top forwards and one of the top forwards in NCAA Hockey.

    Shelby has left her mark on the Eastman Selects over the past 2 seasons becoming one of the top offensive players to ever play in the Program, this past season she had 73 points in 44 games and led the team with an incredible plus 42.

    Shelby has been named to Team Manitoba through the U18 Hockey Manitoba Program of Excellence each of the past 2 years. This year at the Canada Games Shelby was tied for second in overall points at the Canada Games and had a tournament high 14 assists.

     Shelby also made U18 Team Canada and represented Canada in a 3 game set vs. the USA as well as played in the U18 World Championship in Sweden in January 2011 where she was part of Team Canada's Silver Medal performance.

      The MFMHL would like to congratulate Shelby on her outstanding Midget career and wish her all the best in her future NCAA Career.


 

LINDY BRUNET COMMITS TO MOUNT ROYAL UNIVERSITY  

 

   

  The Pembina Valley Hawks of the MFMHL are proud to announce that 3rd year Defense Lindy Brunet has committed to play for the Mount Royal University Cougars located in Calgary, Alberta next season.

   Lindy has been an integral part of Pembina Valley's 3 MFMHL and 2 Hockey Manitoba Provincial Championship teams. Lindy helped anchor the best defensive team in the province while contributing offensively with 63 points over her 3 year career (12 goals and 51 assists) averaging .52 points per game from the point.

   Lindy was part of the 2010 Manitoba Games Gold Medal winning Central Region Team and in 2010 made Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence Final 40 Summer Camp. She is known for her ability to shut down the opposition's top forwards plus her ability to make strong first passes out of the defensive zone.

    In joining the Mount Royal University Lindy will be playing for a program that has excelled in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and will now be making the jump to the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sports) Canada West Conference. The MFMHL would like to congratulate Lindy on her outstanding midget career and wish her all the best in her future CIS career. 


  KRISTINE GRENIER COMMITS TO MERCYHURST COLLEGE

 

 

   The Pembina Valley Hawks of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Kristine Grenier has committed to play hockey for the one of the top teams in the NCAA next season, the Mercyhurst College Lakers located in Erie Pennsylvania.

   Kristine has been an outstanding player for the Hawks over her 3 year career and leaves the team as their all time leading scorer amassing 303 points in 116 games played (169 goals and 134 assists)  for an incredible 2.71 point/game average. As the Hawk's Captain Kristine led them to 3 straight MFMHL titles along with 2 Hockey Manitoba Provincial Championships plus numerous tournament wins.  

    Kristine has played on Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence U18 Team for the past 3 years and this year was selected as team captain for the 2011 Canada Games where she led the tournament with 12 goals and was tied for second in points with 17 in 7 games as Team Manitoba won 6 games and lost 1. This season Kristine also attended the U18 Team Canada evaluation camp where she led all players in goals scored.

    Kristine is known as a leader who plays a tenacious and aggressive style of hockey and has always been a tremendous offensive threat. She leaves the Hawks and the MFMHL as arguable one of the top players to ever play in the MFMHL. The MFMHL congratulates Kristine on her great midget career and wishes her all the best in her future NCAA career.   


   KIARA DEKEZEL COMMITS TO WISCONSIN-SUPERIOR 

 

 

The Westman Wildcats are proud to announce that Kiara DeKezel has committed to the NCAA University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets.

   DeKezel, a senior at Deloraine School, is the only graduating senior with the Wildcats this season, and is the last Westman Wildcat who was a member of the 2009 Esso Cup National Championship team. DeKezel was second in Wildcat scoring this season with 61 points despite missing 13 games, she had the top points per game average on the team @ 1.13. This past season DeKezel was named Wildcats Captain and made Team Manitoba representing Hockey Manitoba at the 2011 Canada Winter Games where the team had a record of 6 wins and 1 loss.

   DeKezel will be joining former Westman Wildcats Sheryl Kaskiw and Teal Crosson on the Yellowjacket roster for the 2011-2012 season along with two other former MFMHL players, Goalie Shanley Peters (Pembina Valley Hawks) and Defense Shaye Nelissen (Central Plains Capitals).

   The MFMHL congratulates Kiara on all her accomplishments within the Wildcat program and wishes her all the best in her future NCAA career.
