Awarded Hockey Manitoba's Orville Acres Memorial Scholarship
The Yellowhead Chiefs of the MFMHL are pleased to announce that third year goalie Sarah Harrison has been awarded Hockey Manitoba's Orville Acres Memorial Scholarship of $1,000.00. Harrison has compiled an impressive record with the Chiefs of 24 wins-12 losses-9 ties while having a GAA of 2.35 and a Safe % of .907. Harrison is graduating from Hamiota Collegiate and wants to continue her education focusing on Elementary Education as a career path. Harrison has participated in Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence in 2009 and 2010 along with being selected to Westman's Manitoba Games team in 2010. Known as a solid technical goalie Harrison has compiled an impressive Midget career while helping the Chiefs compete at the highest level of female hockey in the province.

Taylor McVannel To Receive Hockey Manitoba Scholarship
The Central Plains Capitals of the MFMHL are proud to announce that Taylor McVannel of MacGregor has been selected by Hockey Manitoba to receive a $750.00 Hockey Manitoba Scholarship. The Award recognizes Taylor's accomplishments as a hockey player but also as a Student and is to be utilized to further her education after High School.
Taylor has been a tremendous contributor to the Female Caps Program over her 3 years scoring 82 points (35 goals and 47 assists) in 117 games played. Taylor was utilized on both the penalty kill and power play and was a strong 2-way player who did some of her best work in the tough parts of the rink, the corners. Over her Midget career she won two Scholastic Awards and was also named the Most Improved Player with the Caps and was part of the Central Region Hockey Team at the 2010 Manitoba Games that came away with the Gold Medal. Taylor has carried a 94% average in school the past 2 seasons and at this time has registered to attend the University of Manitoba in the fall.
The MFMHL and the Capitals congratulate Taylor on her accomplishments on the ice and in the classroom during her Midget Hockey career, good luck in the future.
