Team Manitoba earns huge 2-1 win over BC to stay in hunt for a possible Medal Round Spot. MFMHLer Karissa Kirkup (Westman Wildcats) scored the winning goal unassisted when she intercepted a BC clearing pass.

Team Manitoba must now wait and hope Ontario Red beats Alberta to earn the 2nd place pool position to play for a posssible medal.

Team Manitoba lost a heartbreaking 2-1 OT decision to Alberta in their 2nd Game of the 2011 Hockey Canada U18 National Championship. MFMHLers continue to make their mark on the tournament as Callan Harland (Central Plains) and Madison Hutchinson (Pembina Valley) drew assists on the game tying goal with just over 3 minutes left in the 3rd period to send the game into OT. For Harland it was her 2nd point in 2 games to lead the team while it was Hutchinson's first point of the tournament.

Amanda Schubert (Winnipeg Avros) was solid in net for Manitoba stopping 32-34 shots fired her way.

Schubert making 1 of her 32 saves while Vollotton provides protection.


MFMHLers Callan Harland (Central Plains Capitals) and Jessica Vollotton (Westman Wildcats) each scored as Team Manitoba opened the 2011 Hockey Canada U18 Nationals with an 8-2 loss to 7 time defending Champion Ontario Red. Harland opened the scoring giving Manitoba a 1-0 lead while Vollotton also scored in the 1st period to give Manitoba a 2-1 intermission lead. Ontario Red then dominated the 2nd period scoring 5 goals on their way to the 8-2 final.

Manitoba now plays BC on Friday Nov. 4 @ 10:00 am ET
