LEANDRA TIMMERMAN - COMMITS TO ST. MARY'S
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that third year Central Plains Capitals defense Leandra Timmerman has commited to attend school at and play hockey for St. Mary's University located in Halifax Nova Scotia. The Huskies play out of the Atlantic University Sport Conference of the CIS.
Timmerman has been a main stay on the Capitals defense which was the best in the MFMHL this season playing big minutes against the oppositions top players as well as on both the penalty kill and power play helping the Capitals to their first MFMHL Championship and a trip to Hockey Canada's Esso Cup National Championship. During her career with the Capitals Timmerman played in 143 games notching 8 goals and 28 assists for 36 points. During her time with the Capitals Timmerman has earned the Most Improved Player Award, Sportsmanship and Leadership Award, Coaches Award , 3 Academic Awards and Hockey Manitoba's Abbie Coo Memorial Scholarship. Timmerman was also part of the 2014 Team Central that won a Silver Medal at the Manitoba Games.

KENDRA HANSON COMMITS TO NAIT
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Kendra Hanson of the Norman Wild has committed to attend school at and play hockey for NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) commencing the 2015-16 season. NAIT which is located in Edmonton Alberta is a leading Polytechnic and Applied Sciences Institute who's sports teams play out of the ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference).
Hanson a power forward for the Wild has been one of their leaders for the past two seasons acting as Captain this year and leading the team offensively. This past season Hanson was selected as a MFMHL Second Team All-star and during her career with the Wild scored 47 goals and added 52 assists for 99 points in 85 games.

ASHLEY MURPHY COMMITS TO MOUNT ALLISON
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that defense Ashley Murphy of the Norman Wild has commited to attend school at Mount Allison University located in Sackville, New Brunswick. Murphy will join the Mounties who play in the Atlantic University Sport Conference of the CIS for the 2015-16 season.
Murphy is known for her aggressive style of play and is a solid defender who contributes offensively. Over her career with the Wild Murphy has has scored 15 goals and added 37 assists for 52 points. An Alternate Captain for the Wild Murphy participated in the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games for the Norman Region and earned her way to Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence Top 40 Camp.

Kelsey McHolm Commits to York University
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Avros forward and alternate captain Kelsey McHolm has committed to attend school at and play hockey for the York University Lions located in Toronto, Ontario. McHolm will join the Lions who currently play out of the OUA in the CIS Women's Hockey League commencing in the 2016-17 season.
McHolm who hails from East St. Paul, MB. and attends school at River East Collegiate just completed her first year with the Avros and second year in the MFMHL. McHolm is known for being a big physical presence on the ice but also for her relentless forecheck and net presence. McHolm played in 59 games this season registering 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points. During her first MFMHL season McHolm was selected to participate in the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games held in Morden, MB and was the Winnipeg Ice Midget AAA Rookie of The Year.

Jalin Adams and Kirsten Brown Commit To Red Deer College
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forwards Jalin Adams and Kirsten Brown of the Yellowhead Chiefs have committed to attend school at and play hockey for Red Deer College in Red Deer Alberta commencing the 2015-16 season. The Queens are a member of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and play in the ACAC Women's Hockey Conference.
Adams hails from Neepawa Mb. where she attends Neepawa and Area Collegiate, has played 163 games in three seasons with Yellowhead and has scored 30 goals with 33 assists for 63 points while compiling 146 penalty minutes. Adams a Honor Roll student will be enrolled in first year sciences with the ultimate goal of a degree in Dental Hygiene.
Brown who hails from Brandon Mb. attends Neelin High School and has played in 181 games over three full seasons with the Chiefs. During this time Brown has posted career stats of 14 goals, 25 assists for 39 points and 58 penalty minutes. Brown a Honor Roll Student will be studying in the four year Bachelor of Nursing degree program.

JOSSA DANIS COMMITS TO CONCORDIA
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Jossa Danis a 3rd year forward with the Westman Wildcats from Brandon, MB has committed to attend school at Concordia University and play hockey with the Concordia Falcons in the fall of 2015. Concordia University is located in Mequon, Wisconsin and is a liberal arts college while the Falcons are a Division III team that competes in the NCHA Women’s Conference.
Danis a 5' 9 '' forward who is known for her physical style of play has scored 18 goals and 28 assists for 46 points this season while in the 2013-14 season in 75 games she recorded 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points.

Jordyn Reimer Commits to MacEwan University
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Jordyn Reimer of the Winnipeg Avros has committed to attend school at and play hockey for MacEwan University located in Edmonton, Alberta. Reimer will join the the MacEwan University Griffins who currently play out of the ACAC (Alberta College Athletic Conference) Hockey League commencing the 2015-16 season.
Reimer who hails from Winnipeg and attends school at Transcona Collegiate is in her third year with the Avros and is known for her strong two way play. Reimer has played in 78 MFMHL games during her midget career registering 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points while to date during her career with Avros has scored 26 goals and added 41 assists in 167 games. During the 2013-14 season Reimer was selected to participate in the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games as well as Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence Top 40 Camp.

Celine Caron Commits to the University of Manitoba
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Celine Caron of the Eastman Selects has committed to attend school at and play hockey for the University of Manitoba. Caron who hails from Steinbach will join the Bisons who play out of the CIS Canada West Hockey Conference commencing the 2015-16 season. Caron is currently the leading scorer for the Selects with 7 goals and 14 assists in MFMHL play with season totals of 33 points in 33 games for the Selects on 15 goals and 18 assists. Caron has been selected to Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence U18 Team the past two seasons and this year will be participating in the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC. from February 13-22.

Carley Jewell Commits to MacEwan University
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that defense Carley Jewell of the Winnipeg Avros has committed to attend school at and play hockey for MacEwan University located in Edmonton Alberta. Jewell who hails from Winnipeg will commence at MacEwan University at the start of 2015-16 season, the Griffins currently compete in the ACAC (Alberta College Athletic Conference).
Jewell in her third year in the MFMHL and first with the Avros currently has 6 goals and 15 assists in 49 games this season . This season Jewell has earned a Player of the Week Award for week 13 of MFMHL league play. Jewell was selected to participate in the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games as part of Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence along with the 2013 Program of Excellence 100 Camp.

PATTERSON COMMITS TO POTSDAM
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Jenna Patterson from the Westman Wildcats has committed to attend school at and play for Potsdam University located in Potsdam New York commencing the fall of 2015. Potsdam University founded in 1816 is one of the 50 oldest universities in the USA and is composed of the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Education and Professional Studies and the Crane School of Music. Patterson a 4th year Wildcat from Boissevain, Mb will play for The Bears are a Division III team that competes in the ECAC (East Coast Athletic Conference) Women’s West Conference.
In 47 games this season Patterson who is known for her great skating ability and as a tenacious checker has 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points. Last year Patterson registered 6 goals and 9 assists in 74 games with Westman. In 23 MFMHL games this season Patterson has scored 2 goals and added 4 assists for 6 points.

ELIAS COMMITS TO SASKATCHEWAN
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Shyan Elias of the Winnipeg Avros has committed to attend school and continue her hockey career at the University of Saskatchewan commencing the 2015-16 season. The University of Saskatchewan is located in Saskatoon and the Huskies play out of the CIS Canada West Hockey Conference and are the defending Canada West Champions.
Elias a strong two way forward has scored 31 goals and added 49 assists for 80 points in 161 games played with the Avros during her midget career. Elias was selected to participate in Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence Top 40 Camp and moved onto the Final 28 Summer Camp. In her first year with the Avros Elias earned the Team's Rookie of the Year Award.

Scantlebury Commits to SAIT
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that defense Tashel Scantlebury of the Yellowhead Chiefs has committed to attend school at and continue her hockey career with SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) in Calgary Alberta. The Trojans play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Hockey Conference. Scantlebury the Chiefs' Captain is in her 4th year with the Chiefs and is known as a solid defender who contributes offensively as well, this season Scantlebury currently has 4 goals and 10 assists in 25 games. Scantlebury who hails from Foxwarren Mb is a Honor Student at Birtle Collegiate and plans on studying in the field of Rehabilitation Therapy at SAIT.

Wallace Commits To St. Norbert College
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Kjierstan (KJ) Wallace has committed to attend school at and play hockey for St. Norbert College commencing the 2015-16 season. Wallace a third year player with the Wildcats is from Oak Lake, MB and will play for the Green Knights who are a DII-III team that competes in the Midwest Conference of the NCAA. St. Norbert College is a private Catholic Liberal Arts College located in De Pere Wisconsin.
Wallace currently has scored 8 goals and added 6 assists this season in 41 games for the Wildcats and had 25 points in 78 games during the 2013-14 season. Wallace a speedy right winger is known for her aggressive style and high compete level in all three zones on the ice. Wallace was a member of Team Westman that earned a gold medal at the 2014 PowerSmart Manitoba Winter Games and participated in Hockey Manitoba's Top 40 Program of Excellence Camp.

COUGARS CLAW TWO TOP MFMHL PLAYERS
Jaycee Magwood & Tamara McVannel Commit
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that two of the league's top players, forward Jaycee Magwood and defense Tamara McVannel, have committed to attend school at the University of Regina and play hockey for the Cougars commencing the 2015-16 season. The University of Regina is a member of the Canada West Conference of the CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport). The University of Regina is public research university located in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is composed of 10 faculties and one school that offer a variety of programs at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and graduate degree levels. More than 12,000 students are currently enrolled.
Magwood, a 5th year forward with the Westman Wildcat hails from Killarney, MB. and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Police Studies degree. Magwood, a co-captain with the Wildcats both this year and last year, is coming off a season in which she was named MFMHL MVP and 1st Team All Star. In 28 league games last year she had 23 goals, 20 assists for 43 points. Overall, in 75 games last season, Magwood scored 62 goals and added 44 assist for 106 points. She is a gifted offensive player and a model of character, discipline, and work ethic for her teammates. Magwood was part of the Gold Medal winning Team Westman at the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games and is currenlty still on the Final 25 list for Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence.
McVannel, a 4th year defense with the Central Plains Capitals hails from MacGregor MB. and has not declared a major for university yet. McVannel an Alternate Captain last and this season with the Capitals started playing with the Capitals as a Major Bantam and over her playing career has scored 15 goals and added 55 assists in 158 games. Known for her high compete and skill levels McVannel is a team leader who is a key member of both the Capitals' power play and penalty kill. Over her career with the Capitals McVannel has been named the team's Top Defensive Player 3 times while also earning Academic Achievement Awards all 3 seasons. McVannel also earned a Silver Medal with Team Central at the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games, was named MFMHL Second Team All-star and made the Final 28 of Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence. McVannel is also an outstanding fastpitch softball player who has attended several National Championships while being named the Top Player in Manitoba in her age group.

MELISSA HUNT COMMITS TO BEMIDJI STATE
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats' Defense Melissa Hunt
from Hartney, MB. has committed to attend school at and play hockey for Bemidji State University in the fall of 2015. The Beavers are a Division 1 team that competes in the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association).
Hunt a co-captain with the Wildcats is coming off a 2013-14 season in which she was named a MFMHL 1st Team All Star on defense and played for Team Manitoba at the U18 National Championships. In 28 league games last year Hunt had 11 goals and 4 assists for 15 points with season totals of 21 goals and 16 assists for 37 points in 73 games last season. Hunt is a gifted skater with a tireless work ethic that paid off over the summer as she tried out for and made Hockey Canada's U18 Team which participated in a 3 game series vs Team USA.
Bemidji State University (BSU) is a public state university in Bemidji, Minnesota, USA. Its wooded, lakeside campus is located in the heart of northern Minnesota's lakes and forest region on the shores of Lake Bemidji which is approximately four hours northwest of St. Paul-Minneapolis and three hours northeast of Fargo, ND. FORMER MFMHL ALL-STAR KARISSA KIRKUP
COMING HOME TO PLAY FOR BISONS
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forrmer MFMHL All-star forward Karissa Kirkup is returning home to attend school at and play hockey for the University of Manitoba.
Kirkup, 19, is a 5'6" forward that played for University of Maine in 2013-14 and for the Westman Wildcats (Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League) from 2009-13. In the 2012-13 season Kirkup notched 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 30 games plus was named Hockey East Rookie of the week for the wk. of Dec. 3/13 while at Maine. The Virden, MB native played four seasons with the Wildcats with her best statistical season being 2012-13 when she potted 102 points (41g and 61a) and was selected as MFMHL 1st Team All-Star along with Mac's tournament MVP and top plus/minus award winner that season. For three consecutive seasons (2010-11, '11-12, '12-13), Kirkup was Westman leading scorer and was team captain (2012-13) and assistant captain (2010-11, '11-12). In addition, she has played for Team Manitoba in 2012 (silver medal) and 2011 (bronze) while being selected to U-22 Team Canada off-ice conditioning camp and on-ice development camp in 2013.
Bison Head Coach States this about Kirkup: "Karissa brings experience from a number of different levels to our program." "She is a balanced player with great vision, playmaking skills and impressive hockey sense who makes players around her better. Karissa also understands how to play both ends of the ice, and is a player that we believe will add even more depth and strength to a very solid young group of players in our program. We are very pleased to have Karissa as a member of the Bison women's hockey program."

KATE FRIESEN COMMITS TO PROVIDENCE
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Defense Kate Friesen of the Pembina Valley Hawks has committed to attend school at and play hockey for Providence College commencing the 2015-16 season. Providence College is located in Providence Rhode Island and the Friars play NCAA DI Hockey as a member of the Hockey East Conference.
Friesen a Grade 11 student who hails from Altona is in her third year with the Hawks and to date has played 164 games scoring 32 goals and adding 64 assists for 96 points while posting an impressive +87 rating. During her midget career to date Friesen has helped the Hawks win 2 MFMHL Championships, a Hockey Canada Regional Championship and the 2012 Hockey Canada Esso Cup National Championship. With the Hawks Friesen plays is a key player on both the power play and penalty kill while playing big minutes against the oppositions best players.
Friesen participated in Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence in 2013 making the Top 40 Camp then moving on to the Final 25 Camp before being selected to Team Manitoba and participating in Hockey Canada's U18 National Championship.
While attending Providence College Friesen who is an Honor Student is planning on studying Science.
