Bell Commits to North Dakota

BELL COMMITS TO

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats Forward Ashton Bell has committed to attend school at and play hockey at the University of North Dakota commencing the fall of 2017. The University of North Dakota is located in Grand Forks North Dakota and the Fighting Hawks play in the WCHA – Western Collegiate Hockey Association at the NCAA D1 Level.

Bell an Alternate Captain for the Wildcats was selected as the MFMHL Most Valuable Player and a First Team All-star this season as she registered 30 goals and 17 assists in 23 MFMHL regular season games. During the entire season Bell with the Wildcats Bell played 46 games notching 45 goals and adding  27 assists for 72 points with a plus 41 rating. Bell participated in Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence and was selected to Team Manitoba this season helping lead Manitoba to a Silver Medal at Hockey Canada's U18 National Championships. Bell also competed for Team Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championships where she was selected to the tournament All-star Team and helped lead Canada to a Silver Medal. Bell is known for her tremendous speed and offensive ability however it is her willingness to play a solid 200' game, make team sacrifices  and maintain a tremendous work ethic that makes her a true leader.

Bell is planning to enroll in the Pre-Vet Program at North Dakota which is a public research university established by the Dakota Territorial Assembly in 1883, six years before the establishment of the state of North Dakota, UND is the oldest and largest university in the state. UND was founded as a university with a strong liberal arts foundation and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as high research activity institution.

The MFMHL congratulates Ashton on her outstanding accomplishments to date during her Midget career and wishes her all the best during her grad season and with her future academic and hockey endeavors while moving on to the University of North Dakota.
