Raygan Kirk - Player of the Week - Week 16

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Eastman Selects goaltender Raygan Kirk has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending February 18. Kirk, a grade 11 student from Ste. Anne, was a key component during the Selects sweep of the Yellowhead Chiefs in round 1 of the MFMHL playoffs. During the series Kirk earned a shutout in game one and 2 overtime victories including a game two double OT thriller. Kirk faced a total of 131 shots in 3 games leading the Selects to the series win with a .56 GAA and a tremendous .985 save %.

Kirk has committed to attend school and play hockey at Robert Morris University (NCAA D1) in the fall of 2019.

Paige Hubbard - Player of the Week - Week 15

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats' forward Paige Hubbard has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending February 11.

Hubbard, a grade 11 student from Brandon playing in her 3rd year with the Wildcats, had 5 points during the week. Hubbard scored 3 goals and added an assist in the Wildcats 7-1 victory over the Interlake Lightning on Saturday. Hubbard then scored the opening goal on Sunday afternoon during the Wildcats' OT win against the Lightning. Hubbard has committed to play hockey with the Regina Cougars in the 2019-20 season.

Taylor Coward - Player of the Week - Week 14

The MFMHL is pleased  to announce that Winnipeg Avros forward Taylor Coward has been selected a the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending February 4.

Coward, a grade 11 student from Winnipeg, is currently sitting 4th overall in the league and leads the Avros in points. Cowardr picked up her first career hat trick in a tight battle against Central Plains on Friday including the OT winner with 10 seconds remaining in the extra period. Coward also picked up assists this week in victories vs Interlake and Pembina Valley.  Coward was selected to Hockey Manitoba's U18 Program of Excellence Roster and competed at Hockey Canada's U18 National Championship last November.

Maiya Aschberg - Player of the Week - Week 14

The MFMHl is pleased to announce that Pembina Valley Hawks forward Maiya Aschberg has been selected the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 28.

Aschberg is a first year player with the Hawks who lives and attends high school in Morden where she is in grade 11. Aschberg earned herself points in 2 of the 3 games as she registered a goal in the Hawks 4-1 win over Interlake Friday before picking up 2 goals and added an assist on Sunday as the Hawks defeated Yellowhead 7-1.  While Aschberg did not get any points on Saturday, her strength and aggressive forecheck helped create many opportunities for the Hawks in their 1-0 win over Westman.

MacKenzie McCallum - Player of the Week - Week 14
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Pembina Valley forward Mackenzie McCallum has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 21.
McCallum a Grade 11 student from Morden is in her third year with the Hawks and is currently second in league scoring. This past weekend McCallum contributed to every goal the Hawks scored as she had 1 goal and 2 assists in the Hawks 3-2 win over Interlake on Saturday before picking up a goal and an assist before notching the shootout winner to lead the Hawks to another 3-2 win vs. Eastman. McCallum has also had success away from the Hawks as she was selected to play for Manitoba at Hockey Canada's U18 National Championship last November.

Jena Barscello - Player of the Week - Week 13

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs forward  Jena Barscello has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 13.
Barscello, a grade 10 student attending Ecole Secondaire Neelin High School in Brandon, had 5 points in the 2 games played by the Chiefs.  Barscello picked a goal and 2 assists in the Chiefs shootout victory on Saturday vs Central Plains and then picked up 2 assists in the Chiefs shootout loss to Winnipeg Avros on Sunday.  Barscello currently has 8 goals and 10 assists in MFMHL play good for a spot in the top 10 in league scoring.

Danielle Bonot-Schmidt - Player of the Week - Week 12

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Avros goaltender Danielle Bonot-Schmidt has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 7.  Bonot-Schmidt a grade 12 student from Winnipeg picked up three shutout wins for the Avros this week leading her team to 1-0 and 2-0 wins over defending league champs Pembina Valley as well as a 4-0 win over Interlake. Bonot-Schmidt is technically strong and calm in the net giving the Avros a chance to win whenever she is between the pipes. Bonot-Schmidt currently sits 2nd in the MFMHL with a GAA of 1.47 while sporting a save percentage of 0.92 and leading the MFMHL with 12 wins vs. 3 losses.

Bonot-Schmidt has committed to attend school and play hockey for the University of Calgary Dinos in the fall of 2018. The Dinos play in the very tough U Sports (CIS) Canada West Hockey Conference.

Ashley Seekings - Player of the Week - Week 11

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats defense Ashley Seekings has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week.
Seekings was instrumental in the Wildcats home victory in Hartney as she scored the Wildcats first goal of the game after she stole the puck in the neutral zone and rushed up the ice and buried her own rebound into the back of the net to tie the game at one.  Seekings would go on to score the game winner on the power play late in the 2nd period with a hard blast from the point. Seekings also played huge minutes throughout the game and was a force on the penalty kill. Seekings attends Vincent Massey Collegiate in Brandon  where the third year Wildcat is a Honour Student.

Chelsea Dinnin & Liza Vigier - Player of the Week - Week 10

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that  Eastman Selects forwards Chelsea Dinnin and Liza Vigier have been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Players of the Week ending December 17, 2017.

With 4 games in 5 days on the schedule for the Selects this past week, both players contributed to a very successful week where the team won 3 games and lost 1 in overtime by each scoring 2 goals and adding 3 assists.
Dinnin a grade 11 student from Lorette is currently the top point producer on the team with 34 points and in the top ten for the league while  Vigier a grade 10 student from Beausejour has recorded 25 points good for third in team scoring.

Rachel Parsons - Player of the Week - Week 9

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Interlake Lightning Goalie Rachel Parsonshas been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week.

Parsons who hails from Winnipeg was key in backstopping the Interlake Lightning to their first victory of the 2017/18 season.  In the 2-1 game against the Central Plains Capitals on the weekend she stopped 39 of 40 shots and stopped all shootout attempts.  Parsons made a number of huge and key saves in a game where the Central Plains Capitals dominated the play outshooting the Lightning 40-13.

Julia McLennan - Player of the Week - Week 8

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that defense Julia McLennan of the Winnipeg Avros has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending November 26.

McLennan who hails from Winnipeg picked up a total of 5 assists in two games this weekend against two very tough opposing teams.  McLennan helped create offense on two goals against Westman before adding three against Yellowhead.  McLennan is currently fourth overall in league scoring and has helped put the Avros on top of the league standings. McLennan is a very mobile heads up player who escapes pressure and creates offense off the rush with an aggressive style in all zones. McLennan is counted on in all situations for the Avros.  McLennan's talents and efforts earned her a trip to Hockey Canada's U18 Nationals as a Team Manitoba member plus her commitment to attend school at and play hockey at York University next season.

HALLE EDWARDS - PLAYER OF THE WEEK -  WEEK 7

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Central Plains Capitals' forward Halle Edwards has been selected the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending November 19.

Edwards who hails from Starbuck had 4 points in 2 road wins against Yellowhead and Westman this weekend. In the game against Yellowhead Edwards had 2 goals and 1 assist in the 5-3 win while she scored the game winner in the game vs. Westman,  a 2-1 victory. Edwards made Hockey Manitoba's Final 27 list last season and currently is tied for 4th in MFMHL scoring while being second in goals scored. Edwards is second in Capitals scoring this season with 23 points. Known for her great skill with the puck Edwards has developed into a consistent 2 way player and uses her size and speed to make it very difficult for other teams to defend her.

Kylie Lesuk - Player of the Week - Week 6

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that forward Kylie Lesuk of the Eastman Selects has been selected as the CCM - Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week.

Lesuk who hails from Oakbank is known for her tremendous speed, athleticism, and natural goal scoring abilities. Lesuk currently is second in Selects scoring with 10 goals and 8 assists and during the past 2 games she scored 3 goals and added an assist. Lesuk a second year player who is only in grade 10 now leads the MFMHL in scoring. Lesuk is an Assistant Captain for the Selects and this past year was selected to Hockey Manitoba's U16 Roster.

MAEGAN INMAN AND MEGAN FERG- Players of the Week - Week 5
The MFMHl is pleased to announce that Central Plains Forwards Maegan Inman and Megan Ferg have been selected as CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports co-Player of the Week. Both are second year players with the Capitals who had to carry a bigger load than normal with their team being short on the bench and having 3 games in just over 4 days. Inman and Ferg both had 6 points in 3 games which were all wins for the Capitals. Inman had 5 goals and 1 assist including a hattrick in the Capitals 4-3 win vs. Eastman while Ferg had 2 goals and added 4 assists. Both were utilized heavily on both the Penalty Kill and Powerplay and are currently in the top 5 in MFMHL scoring, Ferg leads the Capitals with 10 goals and 19 points and Inman is third with 8 goals and 17 points. Both Inman and Ferg hail from Portage la Prairie and their hard two way play helped the Capitals pick up 6 of 6 possible points during their 3 games by defeating Interlake 5-2, Eastman 4-3 and league leaders Westman 3-2 in a shootout.

Megan Quesnel - Player of the Week - Week 4

The M|FMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs' forward Megan Quesnel has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Souce for Sports Player of the Week ending October 22. Quesnel currently leads the Yellowhead Chiefs offence in points and this past weekend scored three goals and added one assist in leading the Chiefs to 4-0 and 6-1 wins over Interlake and Eastman.  Quesnel  who haills from Dauphin is currently second in MFMHL scoring with 8 points and tied for first with 6 goals in 5 games. Quesnel is a hardworking  two-way winger who is a prominent member of the Chief's special teams.

Snaith - Player of the Week - Week 3

The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Central Plains' Defense Chloe Snaith has been named the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending Oct. 15. Snaith contributed 4 points in 2 games over the weekend to help the Capitals earn 2 points - she had a goal and an assist in both the Capitals 3-2 win vs Interlake before duplicating that out put in a tough 4-3 loss to Eastman.  Snaith played big minutes on both the penalty kill and power play and was utilized heavily as the Capitals ran with 5 defense all weekend due to injuries. Snaith who hails from MacGregor is in her final season with the Capitals and this past season made Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence Final 27 list.  Snaith is a team leader for the Capitals both on and off the ice with her dedication and work ethic and for the second season will where a letter for the team.

WILLIAMS - Player of the WeeK - Week 2

The MFMHL would like to congratulate defense Tori Williams of the Westman Wildcats for being selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week. Williams who hails from Souris helped the Wildcats to two wins, 4-2 and 4-3 (OT), over the Eastman Selects in Hartney on Saturday and Sunday. Williams displayed not only her defensive abilities during the two game series but led her team offensively with 3 goals and 1 assist including the OT winner in the second game.

Williams who is entering her 4th and final season in the MFMHL  was recently selected to Hockey Manitoba's U18 Team that will be attending Hockey Canada's U18 National Championships in Quebec City in early November. Williams has commited to attend school at Mount Royal University in Calgary commencing the fall of 2018 and will play hockey for the Cougars in the tough U-Sport Canada West Hockey Conference.

ODELL - Player of the Week - WEEK 1

The MFMHL congratulates Pembina Valley forward Tessa Odell for being selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the week ending October 1. Odell who hails from Glenora scored a goal and added an assist to help the Hawks earn 3 of 4  points during a 3-2 shootout loss vs Winnipeg and 3-0 win vs Eastman over the first weekend of MFMHL play. Odell in her first year with the Hawks used her speed and aggressive style of play  throughout the 2 games to be an effective ontributor to the Hawks success.
