Week 18 - Eastman Selects Goalie Raygan Kirk
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Eastman Selects Goalie Raygan Kirk has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending February 10. Kirk, a grade 12 student from Ste. Anne who attends high school at College Lorette Collegiate, earned wins in both Selects games this weekend vs first place Westman and third place Yellowhead. In a 2-1 win over Westman on Saturday where Kirk faced 35 shots in regulation and overtime she then stood tall in an 18 player shootout. Kirk then faced another 53 the next day in leading her team to a 4-2 win over Yellowhead. Kirk has committed to attend school at and to play hockey for Robert Morris University (NCAA - D1) in Pittsburg Pennsylvania in the fall of 2019. Kirk is a member of Team Manitoba heading to Red Deer in February to compete in the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Kirk also played for U18Team Canada this year where she was the winning goalie in the IIHF World Championship Gold Medal Game earning the tournament MVP honors.
Week 17 - Yellowhead Chiefs’ forward Levi Derkatch
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs’ forward Levi Derkatch has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for the week ending February 3. Derkatch, a grade 9 student from Silverton, was moved from her regular forward position to defence over the weekend to cover for a Chiefs’ defence corps depleted due to injury. Derkatch would finish the weekend with 7 points as she assisted on the game winner in the Chiefs 2-0 win over the Pembina Valley Hawks on Saturday before adding 6 assists in Arborg as the Chiefs defeated Interlake 9-2 on Sunday.

Week 16 - Winnipeg Avros’ forward Trinity Grove and Central Plains Capitals’ forward Megan Ferg
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Avros’ forward Trinity Grove and Central Plains Capitals’ forward Megan Ferg have been selected as the co-winners of CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 20. Grove, a grade 10 student from St. Andrews, has had a very successful first year with the Avros with 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. This weekend Grove tallied 4 points in the Avros two wins picking up one assist in the 3-0 win vs Eastman on Saturday and followed up with a goal and 2 assists in the team’s 5-3 win over Central Plains on Sunday. Ferg, a grade 12 student attending Portage Collegiate Institute, also had 4 points notching a goal and an assist in the Capitals’ 3-2 win vs Pembina Valley on Friday night before recording another goal and an assist in their 5 to 3 loss on Sunday vs the Avros. Ferg who is the Capitals Captain, is currently one of the Capitals top 3 scorers with 13 goals and 16 assists while being in the in the top 10 in the MFMHL stats. Ferg has committed to play for Minot State University next season.

Week 15 - Yellowhead Chiefs’ defense Monet Mazawasicuna
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs’ defense Monet Mazawasicuna has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 20.
Mazawasicuna, a grade 12 student attending Sioux Valley High School, has consistently shown her strengths defensively for the Chiefs and played a key role in the teams 1-0 win over the Central Plains Capitals on January 19. Mazawasicuna is a solid skater who uses her size to her advantage with her physical play both in 5 on 5 and specialty team situations.

Week 14 - Winnipeg Ice forward Katrina Tobin
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Ice forward Katrina Tobin has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 13. Tobin, a grade 11 student attending St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg, had 5 goals during the week. In the Ice's 4-1 win over Yellowhead Chiefs on Saturday Tobin picked up a natural hat-trick before adding two goals in the Ice's 9-3 win over Central Plains on Sunday.

Week 13 - Yellowhead Chiefs forward Sadie Wood
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs forward Sadie Wood has been named the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending January 6. Wood, a grade 12 student from Rivers, had a great 2019 opening weekend scoring two goals over the weekend. Wood had one goal in the Chiefs 4-3 victory over Pembina Valley Hawks on January 5 before she opened the scoring in the Chiefs a 5-2 win over the Central Plains Capitals on January 6. To date Wood a hard-working power forward has 11 goals and 7 assists for the Chiefs.

Week 12 - Central Plains Capitals’ forward Paige McArthur
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Central Plains Capitals’ forward Paige McArthur has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending December 23.
McArthur who hails from Macdonald and attends grade 12 at Portage Collegiate Institute had 4 points during 2 games over the weekend. McArthur had 3 points, 2 goals and an assist, in a 5-2 win vs. Pembina Valley in helping her team move into third place in the MFMHL standings. McArthur also added an assist in a 4-2 loss to league leaders Westman on Friday night in Hartney.
Currently McArthur is 8th in MFMHL scoring with 16 points and overall she is second in Capitals scoring with 11 goals and 14 assists in 24 games. McArthur made Team Manitoba in 2017 and is still on Hockey Manitoba's Final 25 list for selection to the Canada Games. She has also committed to attend school and continue her hockey career in the fall of 2019 with Holy Cross University and their NCAA Division 1 team playing in the Hockey East Conference.

Week 11 - Eastman Selects’ forward Liza Vigier
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Eastman Selects’ forward Liza Vigier has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending December 16.Vigier, a grade 11 student at Ecole Edward Schreyer in Beausejour, scored once in the Selects 2-0 win over Interlake on Saturday and although she did not have any points in the 2-1 OT loss to the Central Plains Capitals on Sunday Vigier was a strong presence during the entire hard-fought game. Vigier currently leads the team in points with 12 goals and 9 assists.

Week 10 - Interlake Lightning goalie Anya Epp
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Interlake Lightning goalie Anya Epp has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending December 2.
Epp, a grade 9 student from Stonewall, played the Winnipeg Avros on November 28th stopping all 38 shots she faced to earn a 1-0 shut win that gave the Lightning their first MFMHL win of the season. Epp followed that up by earning her team another point in a 2-1 shootout loss against Central Plains Capitals on November 30th when she stopped 48 of 49 shots through regulation and OT before losing in the shootout. Epp faced 87 shots over 2 games allowing only the 1 goal in back stopping her team to 3 of 4 points.

Week 9 - Winnipeg Avros goalie Rachel Parson
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Avros goalie Rachel Parson has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending Nov. 25. Parsons, a grade 12 student from Winnipeg, picked up 2 of the 3 wins this week for the Avros as allowed one goal in a 4-1 will over Pembina Valley on the 21st before registering a shutout in the Avros’ 3-0 win over Westman the next day. Parson stopped 42 of 43 shots she faced in those two games. For the season Parson has a a save % of .944 and GAA of 0.95 with a 7-2 win-loss record in MFMHL play.

Week 8 - Winnipeg Ice forward Seren Jocelyn
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Ice forward Seren Jocelyn has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week ending Nov.18. Jocelyn, a grade 12 student from Winnipeg attending St. Mary's Academy, had two goals in the Ice’s 4-3 overtime win vs. the Yellowhead Chiefs on Saturday including the game winning goal.

WEEK 7 - Winnipeg Avros froward Sadie Somers
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Winnipeg Avros froward Sadie Somers has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the week ending November 11.
Somers, a grade 12 student from Winnipeg, picked up two of the Avros three goals in the Avros shootout win against Interlake on Saturday including a shorthanded goal. Somers currently is 3rd in points within the Winnipeg Avros.

Week 6 - Central Plains Capitals forward Halle Edward
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Central Plains Capitals forward Halle Edwards has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for week 6 ending Nov. 4. Edwards, a grade 12 student from Starbuck, had 3 points on the week to go along with 2 shootout goals. Edwards had 2 goals and an assist vs. Yellowhead in regulation time on Nov. 3 before scoring the only goal in the Shootout to secure a 5-4 win for the Capitals. Then on Nov. 4 Edwards notched the deciding shootout goal in the Capitals 4-3 win over the Westman Wildcats in Hartney to help the Capitals take 4 points from their western swing. Edwards current leads the Capitals in over all scoring with 9 goals and 11 assists in 17 games. Edwards has committed to attend school and continue her hockey career at the University of Manitoba and will suit up for the 2018 USport National Champion Bisons starting in the fall of 2019.

Week 5 - Yellowhead Chiefs forward Juliana Davis
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs forward Juliana Davis has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for week 5 ending October 28.Davis a grade 12 student from Onanole and attends Erickson Collegiate had 4 points last week. Davis had the lone goal in the 2-1 loss to Central Plains on Saturday before notching 2 goals and 1 assist in the 4-3 shoot out loss to Pembina Valley on Sunday. Davis currently is leading the league in goals with 7. Davis in her second year of playing with Chiefs. She is multi-sport athlete to hopes to continue playing at a post secondary institution while pursuing an occupational/physical therapy degree.

Week 4 - Westman Wildcats’ forward Paige Hubbard
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Westman Wildcats’ forward Paige Hubbard has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for Week 4 ending October 21. Hubbard, a grade 12 student from Brandon, had 5 points on the weekend. In the Wildcats 9-0 win on Saturday vs. Interlake Lightning Hubbard registered 3 assists before adding a goal and an assist in a tight 4-3 Wildcats’ victory over the Winnipeg Ice. Hubbard a MFMHL All-star last season is currently still part of Hockey Manitoba's U18 Program of Excellence and recently participated in the Final 27 series vs. the University of Manitoba Bisons in September. Hubbard a skilled and speedy forward has committed to attend school at and play hockey for the University of Regina commencing next season.

Week 3 - Pembina Valley Defense Cora Fijala
The MFMHl is pleased to announce that Pembina Valley Defense Cora Fijala has been selected as the CCM-Slekirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for Week 3 ending October 14. Fijala, a grade 11 student from Manitou, registered 5 points over the weekend picking up 1 goal and 3 assists in the Hawks 8-2 win over Interlake on Saturday and followed this with an assist in the lone goal in the Hawks’ 2-1 OT loss to Eastman on Sunday. Fijala is in her 3rd year with the Hawks and has been selected as an Assistant Captain. Fijala has made Hockey Manitoba’s Top 40 Camp and during her midget career has helped the Hawks to a MFMHL Championship in 2016-17 followed by a runner up finish in 2017-18.
Week 2 - Eastman Selects’ forward Kylie Lesuk
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Eastman Selects’ forward Kylie Lesuk has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for Week 2 ending October 7, 2018.
Lesuk picked up 4 points (1 G / 3 A) in the Selects 8-1 victory over the Interlake Lightning on Saturday October 6 before having a strong game at both ends of the ice in a tight 1-0 loss to the Winnipeg Ice on Sunday October 7.
Lesuk who is in her third year with the Selects as a grade 11 student has been selected as an assistant captain for the second year in a row. Lesuk attends Springfield Collegiate in Oakbank where she maintains an honour roll status. Lesuk is currently still on Hockey Manitoba’s Final 27 Program of Excellence list for the Canada Games in February 2019. As time permits within her busy schedule she continues to officiate hockey.
Week 1 - Yellowhead Chiefs forward Rylee Glushka
The MFMHL is pleased to announce that Yellowhead Chiefs forward Rylee Glushka has been selected as the CCM-Selkirk Source for Sports Player of the Week for Week 1 ending Sept. 30. Gluska, a third year forward who is an Honour Roll student at Neepawa Collegiate Institute picked up 2 goals and 3 assists in the Chiefs 7-0 win over the Pembina Valley Hawks on September 29th. Glushka who is a multi sport athlete including a provincial shot-put champion has been named Chief’s Captain for the 2018-19 season. Glushka intends on playing College/University hockey and wants to pursue a career in nursing.
